In 2026, MnDOT will conduct a Complete Streets Assessment to understand how the Hwy 68 corridor in the city of Ghent from 320th Street (County Road 8) to Maskel St is used today and how it can better serve everyone who travels, walks, bikes, rolls, or drives along it.

As part of this assessment, MnDOT will:

  • Review existing roadway and transportation conditions
  • Work with community members and local partners to learn about current needs and experiences
  • Develop potential roadway layout options that support safe and comfortable travel for all users
  • Create early concept drawings to help illustrate and discuss possible future improvements

At this time, there is no funding or construction planned for this corridor. This assessment will help build a shared understanding of the corridor and guide future planning and decision‑making.

Assessment Goals:

  1. Evaluate existing conditions (traffic volumes, travel speeds, intersections, crashes, safety, etc.)
  2. Develop roadway design options for the corridor and create clear sketches to help share these design options with residents and property owners.
  3. Facilitate discussion between local partners, stakeholders, and the public.
  4. Provide recommendations to improve safety and mobility for all roadway users.
  5. Plan and create an early roadway layout for all roadway users and addresses Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) needs.
