During busy times, southbound traffic exiting onto 2nd Street backs up onto Highway 52. This causes safety issues because of conflicts with fast-moving traffic. Additionally, people going to and from Mayo Clinic cause high traffic demand, causing congestion and safety problems. These issues are expected to get worse in the future.

Project goals

• Identify future needs and improvements in the area. Several major projects in the area, like West Transit Village, and Link BRT, will change traffic patterns.
• Find and choose road improvement ideas to improve safety and make traffic flow better.
• The completed study will help agencies apply for funding and the eventual construction.
