During busy times, southbound traffic exiting onto 2nd Street backs up onto Highway 52. This causes safety issues because of conflicts with fast-moving traffic. Additionally, people going to and from Mayo Clinic cause high traffic demand, causing congestion and safety problems. These issues are expected to get worse in the future.

Project goals

• Identify future needs and improvements in the area.
  • Several major projects in the area, like Bold.Forward.Unbound, West Transit Village, and Link BRT, will affect traffic patterns. These need to be included in traffic predictions to help identify the appropriate improvements for the area.
• Find and choose low-cost road improvement ideas to improve safety and make traffic flow better.
• The completed study will help agencies apply for funding and the eventual construction.
