  • Share Could we consider closing off Penrod Lane, Fordham, etc. to prevent car traffic from the North from driving down these streets at high speed? Bikers and pedestrians could still enter from the North, but these streets could be safer places for kids to play if they were effectively cul-de-sacs, with the car entrances only on the south end of the streets. Sidewalks would also improve the situation. • Share I appreciate the efforts to make St. Anthony Village more pedestrian and cyclist friendly and improving the safety of key intersections is essential. The crossing at 34th Ave NE and Silver Lake seems to have a new pedestrian refuge (work is currently underway), but from what we know drivers rarely stop for pedestrians. This continues to limit safe access to Central Park for many kids on that side of the neighborhood. Clearer signage and/or a traffic light would make a big difference. Also, adding dedicated bike lanes (separate from cars) throughout St. Anthony where there are no sidewalks, would greatly improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists of all ages. We want our kids to be able to walk and bike safely to friends' houses, business, parks without the fear of speeding cars or dangerous crossings. I am hopeful for the work the Active Transportation Team is doing of making St. Anthony a more connected and safer community for everyone. on Facebook Share I appreciate the efforts to make St. Anthony Village more pedestrian and cyclist friendly and improving the safety of key intersections is essential. Thank you for your suggestions. We've added them to the list of ideas for this plan!

  • Share I love the initiative to make St. Anthony more pedestrian and cyclist-friendly! This is a great step in the right direction. I think it's going to be very important (especially for biking) to have protected, separated bike paths for cyclists. It's very important that cyclists of all ages feel safe, and biking in the same lane as cars is dangerous and feels very uncomfortable. I also think it's very important to make sure St. Anthony is connected via Silver Lake Road. This being the central road and not having any bike paths makes it very difficult for cyclists to get around the city. I also think it will be very important to integrate separated bike paths onto Stinson, which will connect St. Anthony to the Quarry and also to Minneapolis. Looking forward to hearing more about the progress of this plan! on Facebook Share I love the initiative to make St. Anthony more pedestrian and cyclist-friendly! • Share The Emerald Park neighborhood is very much in need of sidewalks. We are a densely populates neighborhood with a mix of apartments, duplexes, and single family homes, and there are many small children. With it being necessary for many people to park in the street, walking in the neighborhood invariably involves walking in the traffic portion of the streets. Also, there is increased traffic from the adjacent large commercial zone. We are close enough to walk to school, but the most dangerous part of the journey for our children is in our own neighborhood. on Facebook Share The Emerald Park neighborhood is very much in need of sidewalks.
