The Minnesota Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) sets the direction for safety strategies and investments on Minnesota roadways to work toward zero deaths and serious injuries for all roadway users.

In Minnesota and around the country traffic deaths have been rising after years of decline. The SHSP is an essential tool to reverse this trend.

About the SHSP

The SHSP is a tool that identifies the direction for focusing traffic safety resources and provides data-driven, actionable strategies to reduce deaths and serious injuries on Minnesota roadways. Every five years, Minnesota updates the SHSP to reflect crash trends and incorporate new safety strategies. The 2020-2024 Minnesota SHSP is the active plan. We are looking for your input to shape the next update: the 2025-2029 Minnesota SHSP.
