The City of North Mankato is developing an active transportation action plan. The plan will include key next steps to make walking, biking, and rolling safer and more comfortable. The planning team is working together to develop a vision and goals for the plan. The action planning process will also include support for a demonstration project.

Through the planning process, North Mankato is working to address the barriers posed by highways and key network gaps between community destinations. By engaging users of all abilities, parents, and the full diversity of city residents, this active transportation plan will collaboratively imagine a future where all can safely walk, bike, or roll across North Mankato and beyond.

  • The City of North Mankato would like to hear from you about the demonstration project Haughton Avenue. Demonstration projects are temporary roadway projects that use low-cost materials to test changes to the street before potentially investing in longer term solutions.

The goal of this project is to test out street and intersection changes to make walking and biking easier, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone. Your responses will help us understand how well the project meets these goals.

The project includes two types of traffic calming treatments along Haughton Ave:

    • A traffic circle with bumpouts (or curb extensions) at La Mar Drive
    • A median with bumpouts (or curb extensions) at Green Acres Drive

The survey should take about 5 minutes to complete. Your responses will remain confidential. Thank you for your time!
