Mora is working to expand safe and convenient walking and bicycling options in town by creating an Active Transportation Master Plan. The Plan will identify short- to long-term opportunities to advance active transportation in the city.

To create a Plan that works for Mora’s residents, we want to learn about the way you move today and how we might make walking, biking, and rolling (e.g. other mobility devices like scooters or wheelchairs) a safer, more accessible, and enjoyable option in the future. We look forward to your input.

This project is led by a coalition that includes people from the Mora Bike Club, Mora Ski Club, Mora Public Schools, City of Mora, Kanabec County, MnDOT District 3, the East Central Regional Development Commission, and community members passionate about walking, biking, rolling, and skiing in Mora! This Action Plan is funded through MnDOT’s Active Transportation Program.

The project team created draft vision and set of goals to guide the future of active transportation in Mora:

Draft Community Vision: A safe, accessible, and connected transportation network that encourages walking, biking, and rolling as viable and preferred modes of transportation for all residents and enhances quality of life, promotes well-being, and fosters a sense of community in Mora.

    Draft Goals:

    • Make active transportation options safer and more convenient by focusing on connectivity of key destinations.

    • Leverage the upcoming MnDOT reconstruction of Highways 23 and 65 as an opportunity to integrate active transportation improvements on central corridors.

    • Center residents with disabilities, routes to school, and the aging population.
