MnDOT conducted a Complete Streets Assessment of Highway 75 between County Road 57 and Hwy 30 in Pipestone. We identified and documented possible improvements to the highway beneficial to all roadway users, evaluated existing conditions and engaged with the community and stakeholders to recommend a shared vision for people who drive, walk, bike, or roll on Highway 75. Study goals

  • Evaluate existing conditions (traffic volumes, travel speeds, intersections, crashes, safety, etc.).
  • Develop potential roadway design options for the corridor considering stakeholder input and roadway operations.
  • Develop sketches of roadway design options to communicate with residents and property owners.
  • Facilitate discussion between local partners, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Provide recommendations to improve safety and mobility for all roadway users, including people who walk, bike, or roll.
  • Plan and develop preliminary roadway design of Hwy 75 for all users that addresses Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) needs.

    Thank you for your question. 

    We are planning to resurface Hwy 75 from CR 57 to Hwy 30 in Pipestone. During the resurfacing work, there will be a detour to manage traffic. As part of the assessment, we are gathering information on current conditions and exploring potential improvements. 

  • Share Turning lanes into 1300 S Highway 75 and also into Forman Drive would be a huge help! Also speed limit down to 45 and potential pedestrian crossing from the veterinarian clinic to Forman Drive as many people walk back and forth between the offices.   • Share Hello. I work for Pipestone Veterinary Services. I've worked here for 26 years. I have witnessed many traffic hazards, accidents and close to being an accident situation. My first suggestion would be to lower the speed limit. Maybe 45 mph similar to how the speed limit is set on Hwy 30 East of Pipestone. Over the years, the businesses have grown out this way. which also means more employees and more traffic. You have a lot of driveways that people frequently turn into and turn out of. I can think of several times when i turn East on Forman Dr. having to wait for North bound traffic, praying that the vehicle coming behind me sees that I'm stopped to turn with my blinker on.
