Highway 34 Open House #1 – November 2025

Location: Park Rapids City Hall

Attendance: 5

The first open house was held on November 18, 2025, at Park Rapids City Hall, and had an estimated 5 attendees from the community. The event featured informational boards, a large map of the study area for input, and comment cards.

The objective was to communicate the study's background and goals and solicit questions, concerns, and opportunities on current operations of the study area.

The community identified several key opportunities:

• Future Development: Multiple future housing developments on the east side of town near Hwy 34 and Career Path Drive
• Traffic lights: Concerns about traffic congestion and not being able to get through the intersection of Hwy 71 and Hwy 34
• Safety: With the addition of Pizza Ranch and Aldi, the is concern with people crossing directly from Aldi to LM Supply
• Heartland Trail Connection: Possible future connection of the Heartland Trail from Heartland Park to Detroit Lakes.
