This online open house invites you to help shape the future transportation system for Regions 5 and 7E. Your input will directly influence our long-range transportation plans and help create a vision for how people will move around our community in the years to come.

Long range transportation plans (LRTPs) are long-term studies designed to evaluate regional transportation needs, align values and priorities, understand funding opportunities and gaps, and engage the public in understanding its wants and desires. For each region, the plans will establish a vision and a corresponding set of transportation goals, objectives, strategies, and actions.
Region 5 and 7E are part of Minnesota’s 12 Regional Development Organizations (RDOs), which are key partners in statewide transportation planning and programming. Each RDO works with MnDOT to solve regional transportation issues and ensure statewide consistency.

Plan goals
Coordinate with other state, regional, and local plans and with planned transportation investments.
Identify the regional transportation needs of various groups that exist in each region, including residents, business owners, freight carriers, community organizations, and more.
Communicate regional transportation solutions with a focus on major roads and highways.
Offer strategies and policy recommendations to aid in the identification, prioritization, and implementation of future transportation projects.
We want to hear from you
We would like to hear from people who live, work, and travel in each of the regions to understand common transportation issues and set goals for improvements. There will be online and in-person opportunities to:
Learn about the transportation systems in Region 5 and Region 7E.
Share experiences and input related to transportation in the area.
Identify strategies to improve transportation.
