We want to hear from you: Public Comment Period Open Sept. 2 – Oct. 2, 2025
MnDOT is seeking public comment on the long-range transportation plans for Region 5 and 7E. The 30-day public comment period opens Tuesday, Sept. 2 and closes on Thursday, Oct. 2.
If you live, work or travel in any of these counties, we want to hear from you: Cass, Crow Wing, Wadena, Todd, Morrison, Mille Lacs, Kanabec, Isanti, Chisago and Pine.
The long-range plans establish a vision for each region along with transportation goals and strategies. Here are the links to the plans: (They will take you to a separate webpage.)

We invited the public to give us input to help shape the future transportation system for Regions 5 and 7E. Public feedback helped develop our long-range transportation plans and create a vision for how people will move around our community in the years to come.

Long range transportation plans (LRTPs) are long-term studies designed to evaluate regional transportation needs, align values and priorities, understand funding opportunities and gaps, and engage the public in understanding its wants and desires. For each region,the plans will establish a vision anda corresponding set of transportation goals, objectives, strategies, and actions.
Region 5 and 7E are part of Minnesota’s 12 Regional Development Organizations (RDOs), which are key partners in statewide transportation planning and programming. Each RDO works with MnDOT to solve regional transportation issues and ensure statewide consistency.
Coordinate with other state, regional, and local plans and with planned transportation investments.
Identify the regional transportationneedsof various groups that exist in each region, including residents, business owners, freight carriers, community organizations, and more.
Communicate regional transportation solutions with a focus on major roads and highways.
Offer strategies and policy recommendations to aid in the identification, prioritization, and implementation of future transportation projects.
We want to hear from you
We would like to hear from people who live, work, and travel in each of the regions to understand common transportation issues and set goals for improvements. There will be online and in-person opportunities to:
Learn about the transportation systems in Region 5 and Region 7E.
Share experiences and input related to transportation in the area.
Identify strategies to improve transportation.

Finalize the vision, goals, and objectives and prioritize potential projects.
Phase 4: June 2025 – September 2025
Central Minnesota long-range transportation plans - Region 5 and 7E is currently at this stage
