The State of Minnesota is preparing for the shift from internal combustion engine transportation to electric vehicle (EV) transportation options to meet the statewide greenhouse gas emission reduction and EV targets in the Climate Action Framework and Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan.

To do this we are developing the Minnesota Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Needs Assessment (MnEVINA) that will identify priority areas for EV charging infrastructure throughout Minnesota. Outcomes from the project will be a report that will include recommendations on:

  • EV charging station guidelines
  • Long-distance charging network
  • Community charging
  • Future work and collaborations

and an online mapping tool for long-distance charging recommendations that can be used by MnDOT and others as we work to support this charging infrastructure in the future.
