Hwy 16 reconstruction and bridge replacement in Houston

We are planning improvements on Highway 16 in Houston.

Construction is expected to begin in 2031 with the following proposed improvements:

• Reconstruct Highway 16
• Improve drainage
• Replace city sewer and water utilities
• Replace bridge east of Houston
• Improve bike and pedestrian sidewalks, crossings and overall safety

This project follows MnDOT’s Complete Streets and Safe System approaches. The new design will better serve people walking, biking, driving and using mobility devices while improving overall safety.

Letting is scheduled to occur in October 2030.
