Development Underway for the Greater Minnesota Transit Plan

MnDOT concluded the second phase of engagement for the Greater Minnesota Transit Plan (GMTP) at the end of 2025, gathering input on draft goals, strategies, and community priorities for the future of public transit. A summary of the feedback is available below. Now in the development phase, MnDOT is incorporating the feedback received over the past year as it finalizes the plan. The plan will set priorities and outline strategies to enhance public transit across rural and urban regions outside the Twin Cities.

What's Next?

The plan will be ready for public review during a summer public comment period. Comments will be collected on this website, and a virtual public hearing will be held later this year. MnDOT will also meet with the RIDE Advisory Committee and host a listening session with community organizations to gather input on the plan.
