Project Update: April 2024

This project is led by a coalition that includes representatives of the City of Coon Rapids, Anoka County, City Commissions, and Anoka Hennepin School District. This Active Transportation Plan is funded through MnDOT’s Active Transportation Program.

The following vision and goals will guide the future of active transportation in Coon Rapids:

Vision

Walking, biking and rolling in Coon Rapids is the safe, enjoyable and easy choice for all.

Goals

  • Transportation Choice: Build a culture of active transportation by making walking, biking, and rolling the easy choice.
  • Co-Created, Community-Centered: Create a network that supports the needs of community members who rely on non-car modes.
  • Safety: Prioritize safety in transportation infrastructure design and function.
  • Connectivity: Develop first and last mile connections to key community destinations such as schools, parks, and transit stops.
